Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which rose 0.27% or 0.05 points to trade at 18.70 at the close. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) added 0.20% or 0.10 points to end at 50.00 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 0.11% or 0.05 points to 44.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 4.90% or 1.10 points to trade at 21.35 in late trade. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) declined 4.87% or 2.00 points to end at 39.10 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 4.74% or 0.090 points to 1.810.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 74 to 22 and 11 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.38% or 0.27 to $70.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.26% or 0.97 to hit $78.09 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 1.50 to trade at $1319.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.34% to 431.350, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 361.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.27.
