Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 5.56% or 5.00 points to trade at 94.15 at the close. Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) added 1.11% or 0.100 points to end at 9.050 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 50.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which lost 9.51% or 142.70 points to trade at 1357.30 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 9.35% or 0.130 points to end at 1.260 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) shed 9.33% or 1.40 points to 13.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 32 and 17 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.82% or 0.57 to $70.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.66% or 0.51 to hit $77.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 6.30 to trade at $1205.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.44% to 423.450, while USD/NGN rose 0.08% to 362.050.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 94.72.
