Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 3.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 7.78% or 1.44 points to trade at 19.95 at the close. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) added 7.69% or 0.12 points to end at 1.68 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 7.14% or 0.08 points to 1.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 79.99 in late trade. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 20.53 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 32.76.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 33 to 10 and 46 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.72% or 0.35 to $48.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.32% or 0.66 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.45 to trade at $1287.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.44% to 222.300, while USD/NGN fell 0.05% to 199.000.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 94.84.
