Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 4.52% or 0.19 points to trade at 4.39 at the close. Dangflour (LAGOS:DANGFLO) added 3.37% or 0.13 points to end at 3.87 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 1.70% or 0.04 points to 2.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 4.84% or 1.55 points to trade at 30.47 in late trade. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) declined 3.62% or 32.20 points to end at 852.05 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) shed 2.28% or 0.45 points to 19.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 31 to 25 and 39 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.13% or 0.66 to $58.99 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.81% or 1.12 to hit $63.13 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.60 to trade at $1177.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.54% to 222.500, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 95.61.
