Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 8.47% or 3.20 points to trade at 41.00 at the close. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) added 1.25% or 0.16 points to end at 13.00 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was up 1.22% or 9.00 points to 749.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 4.21% or 2.64 points to trade at 60.00 in late trade. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) declined 3.58% or 0.22 points to end at 5.92 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 2.17% or 0.020 points to 0.900.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 21 to 14 and 52 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.58% or 0.28 to $47.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $50.56 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.30% or 3.75 to trade at $1245.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 2.51% to 339.450, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 316.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 99.55.
