Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT), which rose 4.65% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.900 at the close. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) added 3.67% or 2.94 points to end at 83.00 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 2.80% or 0.64 points to 23.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which lost 6.80% or 3.10 points to trade at 42.50 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 1.92% or 0.40 points to end at 19.76 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) shed 0.40% or 0.06 points to 15.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 20 to 13 and 51 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.57% or 0.29 to $50.15 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.56% or 0.29 to hit $51.74 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.15% or 1.85 to trade at $1255.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 2.62% to 351.820, while USD/NGN rose 1.37% to 319.315.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 97.89.
