Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which rose 6.61% or 1.52 points to trade at 24.53 at the close. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 6.47% or 2.40 points to end at 39.50 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 5.00% or 1.85 points to 37.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which lost 3.61% or 0.60 points to trade at 16.00 in late trade. Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) declined 2.17% or 0.13 points to end at 5.87 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) shed 1.62% or 2.98 points to 181.02.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 40 to 32 and 23 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.80% or 1.32 to $48.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 3.06% or 1.56 to hit $52.59 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.04 to trade at $1291.36 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 5.90% to 397.080, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 362.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 93.47.
