Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.59% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 10.25% or 7.38 points to trade at 79.38 at the close. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) added 10.17% or 0.59 points to end at 6.39 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was up 8.96% or 94.93 points to 1154.93 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which lost 3.64% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.530 in late trade. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) declined 2.39% or 0.60 points to end at 24.45 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 2.35% or 0.35 points to 14.52.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 41 to 37 and 26 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.61% or 0.30 to $49.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.53% or 0.28 to hit $52.09 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.12% or 1.54 to trade at $1263.16 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.15% to 431.560, while USD/NGN rose 1000.00% to 364.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 93.47.
