Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.40% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 4.78% or 11.00 points to trade at 234.00 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) added 3.52% or 0.070 points to end at 2.060 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 2.44% or 0.030 points to 1.260 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB), which lost 3.92% or 5.40 points to trade at 132.30 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 2.91% or 0.51 points to end at 16.99 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) shed 1.09% or 1.07 points to 98.49.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 39 to 35 and 25 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.10% or 0.06 to $57.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $62.42 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.68% or 8.75 to trade at $1273.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.05% to 426.110, while USD/NGN fell 28.89% to 256.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 93.04.
