Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which rose 7.14% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.500 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 4.84% or 0.150 points to end at 3.250 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) was up 4.32% or 0.35 points to 8.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 2.65% or 3.00 points to trade at 110.20 in late trade. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 2.05% or 0.030 points to end at 1.430 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) shed 1.70% or 25.00 points to 1449.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 54 to 43 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.43% or 0.94 to $64.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 2.04% or 1.42 to hit $68.23 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.00% or 13.50 to trade at $1334.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.42% to 450.280, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 89.06.
