Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 13.79% or 0.1024 points to trade at 0.8450 at the close. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) added 7.85% or 735.0 points to end at 10100.0 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was up 4.61% or 0.0071 points to 0.1611 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Akron (MCX:AKRN), which lost 3.09% or 105.0 points to trade at 3295.0 in late trade. Sberbank (MCX:SBER) declined 1.31% or 1.80 points to end at 136.00 and Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) shed 1.28% or 0.700 points to 54.100.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 137 to 88 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.30% to 26.430 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.40 to $1328.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.65% or 1.17 to hit $43.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.30% or 1.06 to trade at $45.03 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.96% to 65.4893, while EUR/RUB rose 0.89% to 71.928.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 97.37.
