Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.81% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 1.64% or 0.47 points to trade at 29.15 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 1.57% or 0.26 points to end at 16.97 and Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO) was up 1.11% or 0.64 points to 58.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which lost 10.93% or 106.90 points to trade at 870.90 in late trade. ASM International NV (AS:ASMI) declined 7.65% or 56.20 points to end at 678.60 and BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI) shed 7.13% or 11.95 points to 155.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 57 to 41 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.96% or 1.56 to $81.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.48% or 1.24 to hit $84.97 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 1.60 to trade at $2,466.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 103.54.
