Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which rose 1.26% or 0.05 points to trade at 3.79 at the close. Randstad NV (AS:RAND) added 1.01% or 0.45 points to end at 44.83 and Shell PLC (AS:SHEL) was up 0.81% or 0.25 points to 30.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which lost 5.12% or 34.20 points to trade at 633.90 in late trade. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) declined 1.74% or 0.27 points to end at 15.26 and DSM Firmenich AG (AS:DSFIR) shed 1.42% or 1.65 points to 114.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 63 to 37 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.14% or 0.10 to $70.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $74.26 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.23% or 6.10 to trade at $2,685.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 103.29.
