Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which rose 0.86% or 0.23 points to trade at 26.59 at the close. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) added 0.61% or 0.46 points to end at 75.44 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was up 0.36% or 0.70 points to 197.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 4.22% or 0.34 points to trade at 7.68 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.88% or 2.240 points to end at 75.600 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 2.85% or 0.170 points to 5.796.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 79 to 38 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 7.43% to 12.51.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.01% or 0.01 to $67.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.16% or 0.12 to hit $73.48 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.67% or 8.70 to trade at $1314.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.1982, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8826.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 92.31.
