Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.98% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which rose 12.99% or 8.37 points to trade at 72.79 at the close. DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) added 3.08% or 1.90 points to end at 63.49 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was up 2.97% or 0.68 points to 23.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which lost 2.50% or 0.37 points to trade at 14.46 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 2.14% or 0.525 points to end at 24.015 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 1.27% or 0.103 points to 8.035.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 81 to 49 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 27.53% to 9.60 a new 3-year low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 2.68% or 1.35 to $48.93 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.54% or 1.35 to hit $51.76 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.46% or 5.55 to trade at $1203.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.0583, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 101.92.
