Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Support Services and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.78% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice SA (AMS:ATCE), which rose 3.27% or 4.00 points to trade at 126.25 at the close. Unibail Rodamco SE (AMS:UNBP) added 2.52% or 6.05 points to end at 246.45 and OCI (AMS:OCI) was up 2.34% or 0.615 points to 26.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ASML Holding (AMS:ASML), which lost 5.03% or 4.94 points to trade at 93.32 in late trade. Gemalto (AMS:GTO) declined 5.03% or 4.18 points to end at 78.95 and Vopak (AMS:VOPA) shed 1.66% or 0.79 points to 46.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 186 to 60 and 5 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.41% to 16.63 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.21% or 0.11 to $51.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.31% or 0.17 to hit $57.30 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.32% or 3.70 to trade at $1143.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.0876, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.6971.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 97.78.
