Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Construction & Materials and Support Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 2.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Universal Music Group NV (AS:UMG), which rose 6.56% or 1.40 points to trade at 22.74 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 5.57% or 0.81 points to end at 15.25 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 5.06% or 1.48 points to 30.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randstad NV (AS:RAND), which added 0.36% or 0.15 points to trade at 41.74 in late trade. Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO) added 0.67% or 0.36 points to end at 54.00 and ASM International NV (AS:ASMI) gained 0.80% or 4.40 points to 557.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 89 to 13 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 3.17% or 2.32 to $75.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 2.75% or 2.10 to hit $78.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 3.30 to trade at $2,434.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 103.01.
