Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 2.70% or 0.11 points to trade at 4.18 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) added 2.65% or 0.270 points to end at 10.470 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 2.47% or 0.32 points to 13.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which lost 1.16% or 0.41 points to trade at 35.31 in late trade. Randstad (AS:RAND) declined 0.75% or 0.35 points to end at 46.97 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) shed 0.04% or 0.10 points to 238.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 106 to 54 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.33% to 21.17.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.39% or 1.04 to $44.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 3.80% or 1.66 to hit $45.29 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.34% or 4.35 to trade at $1262.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1383, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.7880.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.18.
