Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Software & Computer Services and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which rose 2.34% or 0.76 points to trade at 33.06 at the close. Relx PLC (AS:REL) added 2.13% or 0.395 points to end at 18.960 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) was up 2.06% or 0.44 points to 21.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which lost 1.49% or 0.038 points to trade at 2.508 in late trade. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) declined 1.03% or 1.58 points to end at 151.66 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) shed 0.87% or 0.176 points to 19.974.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 78 to 51 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.66% to 15.42.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 2.69% or 1.40 to $53.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 2.64% or 1.58 to hit $61.39 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 5.00 to trade at $1308.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1425, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.8699.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 95.507.
