Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.22% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 1.41% or 0.24 points to trade at 17.20 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) added 1.29% or 0.330 points to end at 25.945 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.00% or 0.225 points to 22.625 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 1.49% or 0.56 points to trade at 37.04 in late trade. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) declined 0.63% or 0.32 points to end at 50.36 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) shed 0.55% or 0.80 points to 144.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 61 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.93% to 10.40.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.32% or 0.16 to $50.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.57% or 0.32 to hit $55.80 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 4.44 to trade at $1276.24 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1753, while EUR/GBP rose 0.44% to 0.8875.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 93.39.
