Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 1.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA), which rose 5.33% or 16.64 points to trade at 329.01 at the close. Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) added 1.09% or 0.51 points to end at 47.10 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV:GFINBURO) was up 0.73% or 0.35 points to 48.29 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q), which lost 3.01% or 5.36 points to trade at 172.88 in late trade. Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO) declined 2.95% or 0.35 points to end at 11.52 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GMEXICOB) shed 2.84% or 3.08 points to 105.39.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 147 to 80 and 20 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.28% or 34.42 to $2,720.22 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $68.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.12 to trade at $72.02 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.33% to 20.16, while EUR/MXN fell 0.64% to 21.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 106.08.
