Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services, Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEGACPO), which rose 1.34% or 1.250 points to trade at 94.800 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (MX:ASURB) added 1.33% or 3.80 points to end at 289.31 and El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1) was up 1.29% or 1.59 points to 125.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which lost 5.15% or 0.525 points to trade at 9.675 in late trade. Becle SA (MX:CUERVO) declined 4.74% or 1.170 points to end at 23.500 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) shed 4.54% or 1.160 points to 24.370.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 197 to 68 and 11 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.22% or 2.75 to $1249.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.38% or 1.78 to hit $50.83 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.89% or 1.78 to trade at $59.89 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.14% to 20.2999, while EUR/MXN fell 0.21% to 23.0465.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.72% at 97.172.
