Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Staples and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA), which rose 5.59% or 0.79 points to trade at 14.93 at the close. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) added 3.13% or 19.38 points to end at 639.00 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) was up 2.48% or 0.50 points to 20.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:BIMBOA), which lost 3.59% or 1.430 points to trade at 38.420 in late trade. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) declined 1.56% or 5.00 points to end at 316.50 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO) shed 1.43% or 1.09 points to 75.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 146 to 144 and 7 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.53% or 6.50 to $1224.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.70% or 0.48 to hit $67.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.14 to trade at $72.93 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.71% to 18.8881, while EUR/MXN fell 0.96% to 22.0841.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 94.41.
