Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Staples and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC rose 0.42% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (MX:BOLSAA), which rose 2.35% or 0.650 points to trade at 28.320 at the close. Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB) added 1.98% or 0.580 points to end at 29.820 and Gruma, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GRUMAB) was up 1.47% or 2.940 points to 202.690 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Industrias CH, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICHB), which lost 0.60% or 0.370 points to trade at 61.090 in late trade. Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) declined 0.59% or 0.20 points to end at 33.60 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) shed 0.43% or 1.140 points to 265.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 40 and 2 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.14% or 1.60 to $1173.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.21% or 0.12 to hit $59.58 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.06 to trade at $63.14 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.40% to 15.5421, while EUR/MXN rose 0.01% to 17.3499.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 95.63.
