Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods & Services, Financial Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.25% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Empresas ICA, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which rose 12.19% or 1.530 points to trade at 14.120 at the close. Alsea, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) added 3.07% or 1.380 points to end at 46.320 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa, SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) was up 2.67% or 1.060 points to 40.630 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1), which lost 2.26% or 1.490 points to trade at 64.230 in late trade. Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) declined 1.64% or 1.350 points to end at 80.530 and Compartamos, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GENTERA) shed 2.01% or 0.550 points to 26.870.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 45 and 6 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.44% or 5.30 to $1199.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.73% or 0.38 to hit $52.02 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.20 to trade at $59.15 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 1.05% to 15.3869, while EUR/MXN rose 0.79% to 16.2697.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 99.74.
