Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.60% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA), which rose 8.62% or 24.81 points to trade at 312.50 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) added 7.88% or 24.41 points to end at 333.99 and Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (BMV:BOLSAA) was up 7.11% or 2.29 points to 34.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV:GFINBURO), which lost 1.04% or 0.50 points to trade at 47.67 in late trade. Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) declined 0.70% or 0.12 points to end at 16.91 and Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA) shed 0.69% or 0.41 points to 58.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 150 to 86 and 14 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.88% or 23.31 to $2,682.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.50% or 1.01 to hit $68.21 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.20% or 0.85 to trade at $71.97 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.29% to 20.24, while EUR/MXN rose 0.25% to 21.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 105.84.
