Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Materials, Industrials and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 1.21% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Coca Cola Femsa SAB De CV (MX:KOFL), which rose 4.39% or 5.75 points to trade at 136.64 at the close. Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) added 4.29% or 2.060 points to end at 50.120 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) was up 3.91% or 14.84 points to 394.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB De CV (MX:SANMEXB), which lost 2.39% or 0.700 points to trade at 28.630 in late trade. Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) declined 1.70% or 1.770 points to end at 102.380 and Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) shed 1.05% or 0.170 points to 15.970.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 205 to 93 and 16 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.32% or 16.40 to $1258.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.79% or 0.45 to hit $56.69 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.05 to trade at $62.75 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.00% to 19.0107, while EUR/MXN fell 0.01% to 22.4844.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.70% at 93.40.
