Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Healthcare and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.18%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX), which rose 3.32% or 1.610 points to trade at 50.130 at the close. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX:RA) added 2.33% or 2.31 points to end at 101.38 and Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB) was up 1.80% or 4.07 points to 230.07 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Cementos De Chihuahua (MX:GCC), which lost 1.98% or 2.120 points to trade at 104.760 in late trade. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB) declined 1.92% or 0.250 points to end at 12.800 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA) shed 1.91% or 0.460 points to 23.660.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 147 to 139 and 12 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.57% or 7.45 to $1310.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.37% or 1.23 to hit $53.22 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.09% or 1.25 to trade at $61.06 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.17% to 19.0052, while EUR/MXN fell 0.09% to 21.7304.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 95.512.
