Mexico shares higher at close of trade; IPC up 0.34%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Telecoms Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the IPC rose 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA), which rose 2.53% or 2.41 points to trade at 97.50 at the close. Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX) added 2.48% or 1.070 points to end at 44.300 and Coca Cola Femsa SAB De CV (MX:KOFL) was up 1.28% or 1.90 points to 150.01 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which lost 1.86% or 15.17 points to trade at 802.30 in late trade. Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) declined 1.43% or 0.690 points to end at 47.480 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) shed 1.42% or 1.66 points to 115.22.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 124 to 94 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.97% or 12.54 to $1277.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.50% or 0.24 to hit $47.83 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.36 to trade at $51.09 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.22% to 17.8049, while EUR/MXN fell 0.18% to 20.8950.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 93.74.
