Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Staples and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC rose 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV (MX:CHDRAUIB), which rose 3.63% or 1.570 points to trade at 44.530 at the close. Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA) added 2.06% or 0.600 points to end at 29.660 and Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEXV) was up 1.93% or 0.620 points to 32.820 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB), which lost 3.56% or 0.850 points to trade at 23.060 in late trade. Empresas ICA, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA) declined 2.97% or 0.440 points to end at 14.300 and Grupo Elektra, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) shed 2.15% or 11.640 points to 528.980.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 51 and 3 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.39% or 4.80 to $1239.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 1.90% or 0.98 to hit $52.67 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.40 to trade at $59.08 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.21% to 14.8186, while EUR/MXN fell 0.10% to 16.7807.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 94.69.
