Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Software & Computers, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.61% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB), which rose 0.37% or 0.125 points to trade at 34.265 at the close. Elia (BRU:ELI) fell 0.51% or 0.190 points to end at 37.205 and Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) was down 0.61% or 0.360 points to 58.380 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 2.89% or 0.33 points to trade at 10.99 in late trade. Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) declined 2.89% or 3.30 points to end at 111.00 and Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) shed 2.63% or 0.99 points to 36.83.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 125 to 42 and 4 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.05% or 11.70 to $1128.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 4.08% or 1.76 to hit $41.36 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.19% or 1.55 to trade at $47.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1060, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.7068.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 96.88.
