Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Retail and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Utilities and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.28%, while the MDAX index lost 0.02%, and the TecDAX index added 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which rose 1.60% or 1.700 points to trade at 108.250 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) added 1.49% or 0.910 points to end at 62.170 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) was up 1.21% or 0.940 points to 78.660 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 2.43% or 5.000 points to trade at 200.800 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 1.78% or 0.360 points to end at 19.845 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 1.04% or 0.395 points to 37.600.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which rose 3.27% to 36.370, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was up 1.92% to settle at 8.815 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 1.55% to close at 16.660.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 3.21% to 78.500 in late trade, Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which lost 2.94% to settle at 40.48 and Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which was down 2.69% to 34.500 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 9.84% to 28.645, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 3.16% to settle at 9.522 and United Internet AG NA (XETRA:UTDI) which gained 2.91% to close at 43.570.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 4.73% to 4.996 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which lost 2.22% to settle at 51.550 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 2.14% to 34.000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 415 to 332 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.88% to 20.34 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.07% or 0.80 to $1154.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.30% or 0.68 to hit $52.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.40 to trade at $58.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1007, while EUR/GBP fell 0.56% to 0.7063.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 96.86.
