Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 3.01% or 1.43 points to trade at 48.69 at the close. ASML Holding (AS:ASML) added 2.71% or 2.60 points to end at 98.53 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was up 2.06% or 0.265 points to 13.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.27% or 1.310 points to trade at 56.400 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 2.23% or 0.44 points to end at 19.43 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 1.90% or 0.127 points to 6.572.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 101 to 79 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.80% to 18.35.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.18% or 0.08 to $45.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.22% or 0.10 to hit $46.59 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.68% or 8.25 to trade at $1208.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.0595, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8592.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 101.33.
