Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB lost 1.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banco Popolare (MILAN:BAPO), which rose 0.56% or 0.0900 points to trade at 16.2500 at the close. UBI Banca (MILAN:UBI) added 0.48% or 0.035 points to end at 7.390 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MILAN:EMII) was up 0.43% or 0.035 points to 8.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prysmian (MILAN:PRY), which lost 3.83% or 0.83 points to trade at 20.85 in late trade. Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) declined 3.09% or 2.75 points to end at 86.35 and Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER) shed 3.09% or 0.86 points to 27.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 357 to 90 and 6 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 4.20% or 1.81 to $41.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 3.25% or 1.58 to hit $47.23 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.08% or 12.10 to trade at $1129.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1066, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.7071.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 96.84.
