Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Financials and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB declined 0.90% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which rose 2.23% or 0.23 points to trade at 10.53 at the close. Luxottica Group (MILAN:LUX) added 0.34% or 0.20 points to end at 59.15 and Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) was up 0.23% or 0.03 points to 12.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediobanca (MILAN:MDBI), which lost 2.79% or 0.255 points to trade at 8.875 in late trade. Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MILAN:EMII) declined 2.20% or 0.170 points to end at 7.550 and Unicredit (MILAN:CRDI) shed 1.98% or 0.125 points to 6.200.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 354 to 121 and 5 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.76% or 1.04 to $58.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.10% or 0.69 to hit $62.62 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.30% or 3.50 to trade at $1171.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.06% to 1.1232, while EUR/GBP rose 0.90% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.73% at 95.68.
