Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB rose 1.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU), which rose 5.07% or 0.78 points to trade at 16.15 at the close. Yoox (MILAN:YOOX) added 4.45% or 1.23 points to end at 28.86 and Luxottica Group (MILAN:LUX) was up 4.25% or 2.65 points to 65.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which lost 1.02% or 0.08 points to trade at 7.79 in late trade. Fondiaria - Sai (MILAN:US) declined 0.36% or 0.008 points to end at 2.194 and Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) shed 0.34% or 0.30 points to 88.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 345 to 111 and 2 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 2.54% or 1.10 to $42.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.34% or 0.67 to hit $49.51 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.71% or 8.00 to trade at $1115.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1135, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.7140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 96.51.
