Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB rose 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Prysmian (MILAN:PRY), which rose 6.36% or 1.16 points to trade at 19.41 at the close. Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MILAN:EMII) added 5.27% or 0.395 points to end at 7.890 and UBI Banca (MILAN:UBI) was up 5.01% or 0.345 points to 7.225 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tenaris (MILAN:TENR), which lost 3.52% or 0.49 points to trade at 13.42 in late trade. Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) declined 2.35% or 0.29 points to end at 12.06 and Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER) shed 1.60% or 0.46 points to 28.32.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 253 to 228 and 5 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.22% or 1.35 to $59.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.10% or 1.43 to hit $66.34 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.69% or 8.20 to trade at $1182.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.67% to 1.1274, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7405.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 94.76.
