MILAN (Reuters) - Italy's main motorway lobby group AISCAT said on Monday it had decided to drop a court appeal against a government decree making it easier to cancel motorway concessions.
In a statement AISCAT said it was dropping the appeal because it was "confident in a positive solution to the complex problem."
The government in Rome recently passed measures to curb compensation owed for the early termination of a contract when the concession holder is in breach of its obligations.
Italy's biggest infrastructure group Atlantia (MI:ATL) has been at the centre of a bitter dispute over concessions since 2018 when a bridge operated by its motorway unit Autostrade per l'Italia collapsed in the port city of Genoa, killing 43 people.
The co-ruling 5-Star Movement says it is determined to strip it of its licence, but has so far not found sufficient backing to do so from its coalition partners.
