Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Metals and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Public Sector Undertakings and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.01%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which rose 4.69% or 16.700 points to trade at 372.650 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 3.29% or 770.85 points to end at 24198.65 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 2.71% or 3.95 points to 149.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NS:PGRD), which lost 1.57% or 2.80 points to trade at 175.30 in late trade. Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) declined 1.41% or 2.35 points to end at 164.35 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) shed 1.30% or 3.30 points to 251.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which rose 2.58% to 149.10, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was up 1.05% to settle at 369.30 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 1.00% to close at 912.20.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.26% to 253.80 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.14% to settle at 251.35 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was down 0.99% to 144.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 742 to 724 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1386 rose and 1295 declined, while 188 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.17% to 14.8050.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.44% or 5.85 to $1324.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.18% or 0.96 to hit $45.01 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 0.90 to trade at $46.78 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 67.040, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 74.7400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 95.90.
