Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the IT, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC), which rose 4.28% or 16.70 points to trade at 406.55 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) added 3.67% or 12.95 points to end at 366.00 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was up 2.90% or 16.10 points to 571.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which lost 3.08% or 11.750 points to trade at 369.550 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 2.19% or 26.50 points to end at 1183.00 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (NS:HDFC) shed 1.82% or 25.90 points to 1400.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which rose 4.39% to 406.40, Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was up 2.62% to settle at 565.70 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which gained 2.16% to close at 80.50.
The worst performers were Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was down 1.63% to 569.70 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.36% to settle at 1012.65 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which was down 1.28% to 1405.60 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 759 to 725 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1379 fell and 1342 advanced, while 213 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.36% to 14.4850.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.48% or 6.05 to $1259.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.32% or 0.16 to hit $50.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.26 to trade at $52.25 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 66.736, while EUR/INR fell 0.12% to 74.3060.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 97.07.
