Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN), which rose 5.87% or 41.40 points to trade at 746.55 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 4.92% or 18.30 points to end at 390.35 and ACC Ltd (NS:ACC) was up 3.03% or 51.55 points to 1755.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC), which lost 2.06% or 7.85 points to trade at 373.10 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 2.00% or 48.95 points to end at 2397.45 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) shed 1.69% or 7.75 points to 451.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 4.85% to 389.35, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 2.02% to settle at 167.05 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which gained 1.04% to close at 291.60.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.85% to 2398.80 in late trade, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which lost 1.78% to settle at 259.50 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.42% to 451.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1036 to 521 and 12 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1648 fell and 978 advanced, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.67% to 11.1725.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.19% or 2.29 to $1219.59 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.72% or 0.33 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.78% or 0.38 to trade at $48.80 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 64.468, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 73.5731.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 95.46.
