Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Metals, Real Estate and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.43% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which rose 2.18% or 13.10 points to trade at 613.25 at the close. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) added 1.58% or 5.05 points to end at 324.00 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was up 1.52% or 4.45 points to 297.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 9.64% or 19.60 points to trade at 183.65 in late trade. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 8.82% or 82.85 points to end at 856.85 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) shed 5.84% or 14.25 points to 229.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 2.28% to 612.35, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was up 1.49% to settle at 1755.50 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.40% to close at 2005.65.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 9.72% to 183.45 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 5.16% to settle at 2932.15 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 5.01% to 338.25 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1399 to 241 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2076 fell and 487 advanced, while 133 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.43% to 16.9950.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1187.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $72.11 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.21 to trade at $81.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 72.525, while EUR/INR fell 0.51% to 84.0435.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 94.88.
