Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.54%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 10.19% or 210.10 points to trade at 2270.95 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 9.81% or 532.40 points to end at 5961.50 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 7.37% or 1554.30 points to 22582.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which lost 2.93% or 7.80 points to trade at 258.25 in late trade. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 2.42% or 17.40 points to end at 700.45 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) shed 2.30% or 48.20 points to 2043.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 6.62% to 589.35, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 5.88% to settle at 278.10 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 4.77% to close at 7011.15.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 2.38% to 700.30 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 2.27% to settle at 2043.05 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.12% to 603.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1387 to 237 and 44 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1996 rose and 578 declined, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 9.35% to 17.9075.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.40 to $1191.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $74.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $85.00 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 74.175, while EUR/INR fell 0.19% to 85.2755.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.39.
