Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.48% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 5.48% or 153.35 points to trade at 2,950.85 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) added 3.60% or 46.45 points to end at 1,338.45 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 3.50% or 33.15 points to 981.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which lost 2.22% or 60.70 points to trade at 2,678.25 in late trade. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) declined 1.04% or 8.25 points to end at 781.70 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) shed 0.31% or 4.55 points to 1,480.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 5.37% to 2,946.60, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 4.47% to settle at 1,349.25 and JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which gained 3.85% to close at 983.65.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 0.70% to 784.85 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 0.18% to settle at 7,574.35 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was unchanged 0.00% to 424.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1614 to 868 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2318 rose and 1455 declined, while 106 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.25% to 12.75.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.75% or 19.60 to $2,634.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.53% or 0.38 to hit $70.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.38 to trade at $74.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 83.54, while EUR/INR fell 0.13% to 93.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 100.52.
