Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.88%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 4.73% or 142.70 points to trade at 3,160.70 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 4.67% or 63.35 points to end at 1,418.55 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 3.45% or 105.65 points to 3,165.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which lost 3.35% or 59.90 points to trade at 1,728.05 in late trade. Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) declined 2.94% or 4.84 points to end at 159.52 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) shed 2.67% or 95.90 points to 3,493.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.48% to 3,167.70, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 2.12% to settle at 2,799.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.94% to close at 1,651.00.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.74% to 159.80 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 2.37% to settle at 3,502.25 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 2.02% to 1,842.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2091 to 405 and 90 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2881 rose and 884 declined, while 96 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.82% to 14.65.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 4.20 to $2,661.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.09% or 1.61 to hit $75.53 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.99% or 1.61 to trade at $79.32 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 83.96, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 92.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 102.14.
