Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.66%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 6.49% or 42.80 points to trade at 697.00 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 6.07% or 19.35 points to end at 336.60 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 5.63% or 22.40 points to 419.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which lost 3.08% or 25.20 points to trade at 790.05 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 1.55% or 32.95 points to end at 2092.35 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) shed 1.57% or 46.10 points to 2881.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 5.87% to 420.15, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 5.40% to settle at 335.75 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 4.08% to close at 160.55.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.72% to 2094.35 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.56% to settle at 1065.95 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.52% to 2884.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 832 to 758 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1238 fell and 1170 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.91% to 27.1325.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.27% or 3.55 to $1298.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.62% or 0.38 to hit $61.42 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.66 to trade at $70.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.23% to 70.382, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 79.0295.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.180.
