Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.13% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 5.76% or 16.55 points to trade at 304.05 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 2.32% or 7.75 points to end at 341.35 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was up 1.33% or 4.15 points to 317.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 2.22% or 13.20 points to trade at 580.05 in late trade. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 2.01% or 585.60 points to end at 28596.95 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) shed 1.47% or 4.05 points to 271.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which rose 5.63% to 304.05, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 2.11% to settle at 317.60 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 1.94% to close at 270.50.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.18% to 510.00 in late trade, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which lost 1.13% to settle at 419.35 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 0.91% to 3755.80 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 963 to 649 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1602 fell and 1314 advanced, while 89 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.82% to 13.8475.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.35% or 4.60 to $1315.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.13% or 0.08 to hit $61.81 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.06 to trade at $67.72 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.40% to 63.715, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 76.0030.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 92.29.
