Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Technology and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which rose 2.13% or 2.55 points to trade at 122.10 at the close. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) added 1.82% or 175.15 points to end at 9,796.40 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 1.50% or 50.40 points to 3,405.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which lost 1.61% or 4.05 points to trade at 247.10 in late trade. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.49% or 5.30 points to end at 351.50 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) shed 1.42% or 42.55 points to 2,945.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 2.09% to 122.05, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 1.53% to settle at 1,583.40 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 1.50% to close at 9,764.40.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.59% to 247.15 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 1.37% to settle at 5,650.15 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.31% to 567.65 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1282 to 716 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2203 rose and 1310 declined, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.48% to 11.80.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.25 to $1,965.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.69% or 0.56 to hit $81.72 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.48 to trade at $85.39 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 82.70, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 90.04.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 103.42.
