Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Banking and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite declined 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr), which rose 5.53% or 0.104 points to trade at 1.984 at the close. Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr) added 2.64% or 0.040 points to end at 1.555 and Jumbo SA (AT:BABr) was up 2.52% or 0.340 points to 13.840 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 14.14% or 0.0140 points to trade at 0.0850 in late trade. Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr) declined 8.40% or 0.017 points to end at 0.183 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) shed 4.41% or 0.060 points to 1.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 54 to 47 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.23% or 2.90 to $1257.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.88% or 2.03 to hit $72.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.00% or 1.52 to trade at $77.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1592, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8817.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 94.75.
