Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Travel and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 1.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 3.45% or 0.13 points to trade at 3.90 at the close. Titan Cement International SA (AT:TITCr) added 2.81% or 0.90 points to end at 32.90 and Athens Water (AT:EYDr) was up 2.65% or 0.15 points to 5.81 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alumil (AT:ALMr), which lost 2.26% or 0.07 points to trade at 3.03 in late trade. Biokarpet Industrial and Commercial Enterprises SA (AT:ALBr) declined 2.05% or 0.05 points to end at 2.39 and Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr) shed 1.10% or 0.02 points to 1.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 58 and 21 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 13.65 to $2,465.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.65% or 1.98 to hit $76.71 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.37% or 1.85 to trade at $79.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 103.94.
